Google has reported a significant increase in AI-driven enforcement across its advertising ecosystem, while simultaneously expanding its AI-powered search experience through AI Mode. According to its 2025 Ads Safety Report, the company blocked 8.3 billion ads globally, up from 5.1 billion the previous year, with Gemini systems enabling earlier and more precise detection of policy violations.
The company indicated that over 99% of problematic ads were stopped before reaching users, while fewer advertiser accounts were suspended, reflecting a shift toward targeting individual ads rather than entire accounts. Keerat Sharmaexplained that this approach has improved accuracy and reduced incorrect suspensions, supported by stronger verification systems to prevent bad actors from entering the platform.
Alongside this, Google is enhancing AI Mode in Chrome, enabling users to explore web content alongside conversational search. The update allows users to open webpages side-by-side with AI-generated responses and incorporate context from multiple tabs, files, and sources into queries.
The combined developments highlight Google’s strategy to embed AI across both user-facing search experiences and backend systems, using automation to improve safety, usability, and real-time decision-making at scale.
