The San Francisco 49ers had several players hitting the market this offseason, and after re-signing nine of them and watching 13 others leave for new teams, there are just nine left on the market.
Let’s take a look at which members of San Francisco’s 2025 roster are still looking for new jobs and could end up back with the 49ers.
*This list doesn’t include linebacker Bryce Huff, who announced his retirement earlier this offseason.*
Jennings spent the last six seasons with the 49ers after the team took him in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Tennessee. He’s caught 210 passes for 2,581 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career, and last year he served as the team’s top wideout for the first time.
Morstead joined the 49ers in 2025 after stints with the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins. The Super Bowl champion and one-time Pro Bowler averaged just 43.6 yards per punt last year but set a career-high with 50% of his punts being downed inside the 20-yard line.
Ferrell returned to the 49ers after two years away, as he signed in the middle of the 2025 season. In just eight games, he finished the year tied for the team-lead in sacks with four.
Gross-Matos signed a two-year deal with the 49ers in 2024 after starting his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers. Over the last two years, he appeared in 19 games and recorded 27 tackles and four sacks.
San Francisco signed Givens as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State in 2019. He spent the last seven years with the team, recording 92 tackles, eight sacks, three passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
Kendricks joined the 49ers late in the 2025 season after spending eight years with the Minnesota Vikings and one each with the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. After recording just six tackles in his three regular-season games, he started both playoff games and recorded 19 postseason tackles.
The 49ers signed the former Los Angeles Rams sixth-round pick last offseason coming off of a season-ending injury. However, Tomlinson suffered injury last May that ended his 2025 campaign before it even began.
Jackson signed to San Francisco’s practice squad at the end of the 2024 season and stuck around on a reserve/futures contract for the offseason. However, he suffered a season-ending neck injury last July.
Taylor spent four seasons with the 49ers to begin his NFL career, but after two years with the Cincinnati Bengals and one with the Chicago Bears, he returned for the last two seasons. In 43 games with the 49ers, he’s caught 80 passes for 742 yards and three touchdowns, but he missed all of last season due to a back injury.
