Special Olympics Rhode Island hosted its annual "Truck Day," on Wednesday afternoon.
The day marks the unofficial kickoff to the 2026 Summer Games.

Athletes, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and volunteers came together to prepare for the event.
Participants loaded all of the equipment and supplies needed to make the University of Rhode Island ready for athletes.

Over 1,200 athletes from across the state will compete.
The Summer Games start Friday, May 29.
