The Google settlement benefits individuals who were younger than 13 years old when they downloaded or otherwise used an application from Google Play between April 1, 2015, and the present.
According to the class action lawsuit, Google and AdMob violated the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting, using and disclosing personal information from children without parental consent. The plaintiffs claim that Play Store apps collected information from children and sent it to Google and AdMob.
Google offers a variety of apps and services, while AdMob is a mobile advertising platform owned by Google.
Google and AdMob have not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $8.25 million class action settlement to resolve the COPPA class action lawsuit.

Class members who submit a valid claim will receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of valid claims filed with the settlement. No payment estimates are available at this time. Claim forms must be submitted and e-signed by the settlement class member or their parent or legal guardian.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 4, 2026.
