Nelson Dusetti, INSERM Research Director at CRCM and Institut Paoli-Calmettes, shared on LinkedIn:
“Two days of science, clinical discussions and Franco-Argentine collaboration in pancreatic cancer research.
The 3rd French-Argentine Workshop on Pancreatic Cancer Research, held on October 29–30 at the University of Buenos Aires, was a great opportunity to strengthen scientific and clinical exchanges between our two countries.
The meeting brought together French and Argentine researchers, surgeons, oncologists and pathologists, with the participation of young Argentine scientists and institutional representatives from the French Embassy, the Argentine Ministry of Health, the University of Buenos Aires and Hospital El Cruce.
We were also particularly honoured to have Gabriel Rabinovich, an internationally renowned Argentine scientist, among the speakers.
His participation was a highlight of the meeting and contributed to the richness of the scientific exchanges.
The strong French participation, particularly from the Institut Paoli-Calmettes (IPC) and the CRCM – Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie de Marseille contributed to discussions covering pancreatic cancer surgery, clinical management, tumour biology, treatment resistance and new therapeutic approaches.
I particularly appreciated the quality of the discussions, the diversity of clinical and scientific perspectives, and the strong participation of young Argentine researchers.
Their enthusiasm, questions and involvement are essential for the future of this collaboration.
Another important moment was the launch of the Franco-Argentine Consortium for Pancreatic Cancer Research, building on longstanding collaborations between French and Argentine institutions and the recently established Franco-Argentine Joint Laboratory.
This initiative is another example of why international scientific collaboration matters.
Bringing together complementary expertise, clinical experience and research resources creates opportunities that would be much more difficult to develop independently.
It is equally important to involve young scientists and clinicians from the beginning, giving them opportunities to exchange ideas, develop joint projects and build lasting international collaborations.
Many thanks to Eduardo Chuluyan, Juan Iovanna, all the organizers, the institutional representatives who supported this initiative, and our Argentine and French colleagues for these two stimulating days.
A special thanks to Jonathan Garnier, Emmanuel Mitry and Nicolas Fraunhoffer for their contributions and for representing the clinical and scientific research activities developed in Marseille.
The next step is to transform these discussions into concrete collaborative projects, with the shared objective of improving our understanding and treatment of pancreatic cancer.”
