While he has gotten plenty of criticism for his perceived flaws, Luka Doncic is widely considered one of the very best basketball players in the world these days. He just completed an MVP-caliber campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers during which he won his second scoring title and was named to the All-NBA First Team for the fifth time in six years.
He is currently on tour with Jordan Brand, and during an interview with Drafteados, a young child asked him which NBA legend he would choose to play a game of one-on-one against. Doncic said he would choose Michael Jordan, per Luka Updates.
“Michael Jordan, easy answer,” Doncic said. “He was an incredible player and I’d love to play against him.”
Jordan, of course, is still considered by many to be the greatest player in the history of basketball. He has the highest scoring average in NBA history and won 10 scoring titles, five MVP awards and six championships with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan continues to be the individual standard of greatness against which other superstars are measured.
Doncic has put together a pretty impressive resume in his eight years in the league. This season, he averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.6 steals a game before a hamstring strain on April 2 cut his season short. He currently has the third-highest career regular-season scoring average at 29.2 points a game, as well as the second-highest career playoff scoring average ever with 30.85 points per game.
The one thing Doncic lacks, other than an MVP award, is an NBA championship ring. He’s hoping the Lakers will make the types of moves this summer that will result in him getting at least one such ring in the coming years.
