ForTra gGmbH für Forschungstransfer der Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (ForTra) finances strategic advice provided by consulting professionals to prepare and conduct orientation and scientific advice meetings with regulatory authorities for the planning and approval of clinical trials (‘pre-IND meetings’).
ForTra is announcing a call for proposals to fund consulting costs for the preparation and support of orientation (´kick-off´) and scientific advice meetings with regulatory authorities for projects for which a clinical trial is planned.

A key challenge on the path from the laboratory to the clinic is the complex regulatory requirements that must be met for clinical trials to be approved. To encourage the use of professional regulatory consulting services for translational projects in the field of drug development or medical technology, ForTra provides funding for regulatory consulting for projects selected by an external panel of experts. The aim is to optimally prepare project leaders for an orientation meeting and/or a scientific consultation meeting with the PEI or BfArM and to accompany them to these meetings.

Researchers in medical sciences working for non-profit institutions (e.g., a university, university hospital, university of applied sciences, non-university research institution, Max Planck Institute, etc.) in Germany are eligible to apply. The projects should aim to advance a new active substance or medical device to the clinical trial stage.

Applications must be submitted by September 15th, 2026, to ForTra at the application platform.

Guidelines for submitting applications and the call for proposals can be found in the download section on the ekfs website.
