The Australian bond market has established itself as a key source of funding for global companies. Now it’s enthusiastically feeding the AI funding frenzy.
We were told it was coming and now it has truly arrived. The data centre debt funding rush has swamped the Australian corporate bond market as borrowers from Canberra to Dallas make their presence felt.
On Thursday morning, after a week of meetings with fixed income investors, brokers opened the books on a CDC Data Centres subordinated bond sale, and by lunchtime, they were closed with $5.4 billion worth of bids received.
