Olympic champion Sally Gunnell named ambassador for Air Ambulance – BBC

An Olympic champion has become an ambassador for her local air ambulance.
Sally Gunnell said she was "absolutely delighted" with her new role with the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS).
The former-track and field athlete, who won gold in the 400 metres at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, has previously backed fundraising events for the organisation.
"It feels very special to be able to support such an important local charity and help raise awareness of the vital work they do," Gunnell said.
"Their crews provide an incredible, lifesaving service, bringing expert emergency care directly to people when they need it most."
KSS chief executive David Welch said: "We're especially proud to welcome Sally Gunnell as a newly appointed ambassador for KSS.
"Her passion for health, wellbeing and community, combined with her inspiring profile, will play an important role in helping us reach more people, raise vital funds and continue saving lives across the region."
Gunnell, who lives in Sussex, also has European, Commonwealth and world gold medals to her name.
KSS has warned about the financial impact of rising aviation fuel costs since the beginning of the current conflict in the Middle East.
