RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – An agreement finalized April 28, 2026, between the University of Nevada, Reno and Washoe County will expand access to healthcare across the region through the transfer of a mobile health outreach/command post vehicle. The vehicle will be used by the University to support community‑based care initiatives in Washoe County, including the innovative StreetReach program.
The mobile health outreach vehicle was originally purchased by Washoe County using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for Northern Nevada Public Health. Through this agreement, the vehicle will now serve as a critical resource for University‑led efforts to reach underserved populations.
StreetReach is a collaborative program between the Orvis School of Nursing and The Larson Institute within the School of Public Health. The program provides low‑barrier, relationship‑based healthcare to individuals who are unsheltered, intermittently housed or otherwise connected to street‑based communities. Services include wound care, bloodborne virus testing and connections to ongoing healthcare and social support.
For anyone interested in supporting the StreetReach program, you can scan the QR code below to donate.
