[VOVWORLD] – The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) on Monday announced a six-month Ebola response plan aimed at containing outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, while strengthening epidemic preparedness across the African continent.

The plan has a total budget of 319 million USD and will be implemented across all 55 member states of the African Union. Of this amount, 265 million USD will be prioritized for direct outbreak response efforts in the DRC and Uganda, while 54 million USD will support preparedness activities, surveillance systems, and disease-control capacity-building in high-risk African countries.
In eastern DRC, the epicenter of the current Ebola outbreak, local authorities have stepped up sanitation and disease prevention measures. This outbreak is linked to the rare Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, for which there is no approved vaccine available.

[VOVWORLD] – Countries are strengthening health monitoring and quarantine measures for citizens returning from the cruise ship MV Hondius following a Hanta virus outbreak that has caused at least three deaths.
[VOVWORLD] – The United States has activated emergency response measures as seven states prepare to receive citizens who may have been exposed to the Hantavirus aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
(VOVWORLD) -Though Vietnam has not recorded any cases of Nipah virus infection, it is working closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) and international community on prevention and response measures, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson said on Thursday.
