The BPSD has once again achieved the honor of being named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.
A nonprofit organization supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its 15,000 professionals.
Now in its 27th year, the award recognizes district’s around the world that make an effort to provide music access and education to all students.
In order to earn this title, districts submit information on funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, support, and music-making opportunities.
It’s then reviewed by the Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Alongside this, individual schools can get the Support Music Merit Award.
In 2026, Bethel Park is one of just 1,000 districts and schools nationwide to receive this honor.
However, the distinction doesn’t come as a shock when realizing students also have opportunities to perform in ensembles, including Band, Choir, Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Top 21.
Not to forget electives such as AP Music Theory, Music Technology, and Songwriting.
Instrumental music, including band and strings, is even available to students starting in 4th grade.
By providing opportunities from elementary through high school, the district makes sure that every student is able to discover their talent.
As Bethel Park continues to invest in its music programs, it acts as an example for other districts to follow.
