Varnell Mayor and Council (Special Called Meeting) — Monday, May 18
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Varnell City Hall, 1025 Tunnel Hill Varnell Road, Varnell
Highlights: Varnell officials will hold a special called meeting Monday morning to hear a report on the city’s 2025 audit. The public is invited to attend.

Dalton Finance and Administration Committee — Monday, May 18
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: Dalton City Hall, 2nd Floor West Conference Room, 300 W Waugh Street, Dalton
Highlights: Dalton’s Finance and Administration Committee is expected to review city finance and budget matters ahead of Monday evening’s council meeting. The committee includes the mayor, city council, city administrator and finance director.
Dalton Mayor and Council — Monday, May 18
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Dalton City Hall, Raymond A. Elrod Council Chambers, 300 W Waugh Street, Dalton
Highlights: Dalton city leaders are expected to consider multiple budget amendments, a proposed tennis court resurfacing grant, airport hangar funding extensions and downtown development district funding adjustments during Monday evening’s meeting. Officials will also revisit a previously discussed rezoning request on Dogwood Drive.

Greater Dalton Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) — Tuesday, May 19
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Riverbend Park, 1999 Riverbend Road, Dalton
Highlights: The Greater Dalton MPO, which oversees regional transportation planning, is scheduled to meet Tuesday morning. An agenda had not yet been released as of press time.
Dalton Public Works & Facilities Committee — Wednesday, May 20
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: Dalton Public Works Department, 535 N. Elm Street, Dalton
Highlights: The committee overseeing Dalton Public Works operations is scheduled to meet Wednesday afternoon. An agenda had not yet been publicly released as of press time.
Cohutta Town Council (Emergency Meeting) — Wednesday, May 20
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Cohutta Town Hall
Highlights: Cohutta officials are expected to take action related to appointing an interim mayor following the resignation of Mayor Ron Shinnick. The meeting follows weeks of controversy and leadership turmoil within the town government.
Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Council — Thursday, May 21
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive, Rome
Highlights: Regional leaders are expected to review and consider adoption of the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission’s annual work program and upcoming fiscal year budgets. Department heads will also provide updates on regional planning, workforce development, aging services and financial operations.
