The Hope premiere at the Cannes Film Festival brought a softer, more refined mood to the red carpet, with elegant couture, delicate embellishment, and timeless black tie dressing taking centre stage.
Taylor Russell made a long-awaited return to the red carpet wearing custom Dior Haute Couture, which will surprise absolutely no one considering her long-standing relationship with Jonathan Anderson dating back to his Loewe era. Unlike Greta Lee, who embraced the more sculptural side of the Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection, Taylor opted for one of the more streamlined looks. The white bustier gown featured the same shibori passementerie embroidery seen on Greta, but placed on the hip, it didn’t disrupt the purity of the silhouette. Styled with Chaumet jewellery, the overall effect felt elegant, refined, and entirely in sync with Taylor’s approach to red carpet dressing.
At first glance, Hoyeon’s silver embellished gown could easily be mistaken for Chanel thanks to the camellia floral embroidery, but the actress remains firmly in Louis Vuitton territory. Between the fluid beading, softly draped neckline, and delicate shimmer running through the gown, Nicolas Ghesquière brought a lighter, more romantic touch to his usually futuristic aesthetic.
Michael Fassbender kept things timeless in a sharply tailored black double-breasted tuxedo, while the sunglasses gave the look a touch of old-school movie-star mystique.
Alicia Vikander wore Louis Vuitton, delivering the kind of clean, elegant red carpet moment that has become her signature. The pale blush gown skimmed the body before falling into sheer pleated panels through the skirt, creating beautiful softness and fluidity. Styled simply with Louis Vuitton High Jewelry and soft waves, this was elegance at its most effortless.
