Income tax bracket creep since the Albanese government came to office four years ago is costing taxpayers $2000 a year and has cemented Labor as the highest taxing government on average in history, new analysis by the federal opposition shows.
Labor is preparing to increase taxes on property investors by unwinding concessions on capital gains and negative gearing at the May 12 federal budget. It is considering a Treasury proposal to introduce a minimum tax rate of 25-30 per cent on trust distributions.
