TRENDING:
Chardon resident Steven Oluic and incumbent Jim Dvorak will face off in the May 5 Primary Election for the Geauga County commissioner seat.
The Geauga County Auditor’s Office confirmed that the four-year position will begin Jan. 1, 2027, and will pay a salary of $95,904. According to the Geauga County Elections Board, 66,731 people are eligible to vote in the race.
Here are some of the answers the candidates provided in response to questionnaires sent to them by The News-Herald:
If re-elected, Dvorak noted he will continue to fight for property tax reform while establishing a long-range plan for county buildings and properties.
He would also work to create a stronger team atmosphere regarding all county issues.
“I am the most-qualified and most-experienced candidate, and I have worked tirelessly to protect and preserve the ‘Geauga Way of Life,’ ” he wrote. “I have been very instrumental in having the new County Administration Building centralized for most of the county’s services, in addition to the completion of the Geauga County Courthouse expansion (project).
“My strengths are in communicating and collaborating for the best possible outcome for the residents….I strive to create a team atmosphere for the best possible outcome,” Dvorak added. “This is my full-time job — I take being your county commissioner very seriously.”
Oluic did not respond.
