Work getting underway for NoHo-Pasadena BRT Line – Urbanize LA

Work has commenced for a new bus rapid transit that will connect the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, according to a notice recently issued by the City of Pasadena.
The North Hollywood to Pasadena BRT Line, funded through the approval of Measure M in 2016, will add bus rapid transit service to a 19-mile corridor between the cities of Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena running parallel to the SR-134 Freeway. The route also provides transfers to the A Line in Pasadena, the G Line busway and B Line subway in North Hollywood, and Metrolink in Burbank.

During the review period for the project, Metro estimated that bus rapid transit service would cut the end-to-end trip transit times along the corridor by 30 to 40 percent. The agency estimated that the project would attract upwards of 30,000 daily riders prior to the pandemic.
Time savings would be gleaned largely through the use of dedicated bus lanes along much of the corridor, including various segments of curb-, side-, and median-running lanes on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, Olive Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard in Burbank, Central Avenue and Broadway in Burbank, and Colorado Boulevard through Eagle Rock.

According to a community presentation provided earlier this year, corridor-wide construction is expected to begin by Summer 2026, with completion expected by the end of 2027 in advance of the 2028 Olympics.
The bus rapid transit line is funded by $317 million in Measure M and SB1 revenue.
