Iranian state media reported Monday that a parliamentary commission had approved plans to impose tolls on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway vital to oil and gas shipments that has been effectively closed due to the Middle East conflict.
US President Donald Trump warned on Monday that the US would obliterate Iran’s energy plants and oil wells if Tehran does not open the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also said that the US is in ” serious discussions” with Iran, while Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran had not been involved in negotiations with the US since the start of the conflict.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned attacks on UN peacekeepers as three peacekeepers were killed in two separate incidents in southern Lebanon in Israeli strikes.
