Area tennis players advance to WIAA state semifinals – The Post-Crescent

MADISON – The WIAA Division 1 and Division 2 state individual tennis tournaments conclude June 6 with more than a reasonable chance northeast Wisconsin will have a champion.
In Division 1 singles, Notre Dame Academy’s Alex Thomas will meet Kimberly’s Colin Meixl in one semifinal with Brookfield Central’s Andrey Semin meeting Middleton’s Alexander Bo in the other.
In the Division 1 doubles semifinals, Menomonee Falls’ Mile Seder and Chase Larson will square off against Madison West’s Sverre Ezra Roang and Hunter Shadman in one semifinal with Eddie Schoyer and Cole Wurtzbacher of Brookfield Academy facing Jake Zheng and Ryker Koch of Brookfield East in the other semfinal.
In Division 2 singles, Xavier’s Kojo Norman will meet Oliver Milleman of Catholic Memorial in one semifinal with Teddy Busateri of East Troy meeting Maddox Bradfield of Madison Country Day Co-op meeting in the other.
In Division 2 doubles, Catholic Memorial’s Finn Milleman and Brady Latus will face Shorewood’s Andrew Joeckel and Max Herman. The other half of the bracket has Edgewood’s Mac Yackeet and Johnathan Buye taking on Plymouth’s Gianni Frausto and Cavin Baltus.
To reach the Division 1 singles semifinals, Thomas defeated Reid Hirn of Badger 6-0, 6-2 and Ethan Hoffmann of Hartford 6-3, 6-1.
Meixl, meanwhile, defeated Clark Meyers of Brookfield East 6-1, 6-0 and Grant Schaefer of Whitefish Bay 0-6. 6-3, 10-4.
West De Pere’s Liam Hankel lost his third-round match to Hartford’s Hoffmann 3-6, 4-6.
Appleton West’s Truman Vogel won his third-round match 6-0, 6-3 over Suchir Siddinene of Hamilton but lost his quarterfinal match to Brookfield Central’s Semin 3-6, 5-7.
Appleton West’s Cale Vogel dropped his third-round match to Semin of Brookfield Central 2-6, 2-6.
In Division 1 doubles, West De Pere’s Giovanni Zifferblatt and Brayden Hayden lost to Hartford’s Alex Hoffmann and Jake Otto 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-10, while Neenah’s Brady Lawatsch and Luke Grassl lost to Ethan Cannon and Christian Lethlean of Franklin 3-6, 6-2, 4-10.
In Division 2 singles, Xavier’s Norman defeated Wyatt Andrew of University Lake School 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 and Tegan Schott of Aquinas 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.
In the Division 2 doubles third round, St. Mary Catholic’s Sean Osland and Aiden Tines lost to Aria Ziogas and JJ Borchardt of New Berlin West 0-6, 2-6.
