Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner recently faced a frightening moment after rushing their daughter Violet to the emergency room. The former couple, who remain closely connected when it comes to their children, accompanied their daughter to the hospital after she was barely able to walk. The 20-year-old Yale student was seen limping into the medical center, leaning on both of her parents for support and stability.
Affleck, 53, walked with his arm protectively wrapped around his daughter as she held tightly onto him, while Garner, 54, stayed right by Violet’s side to help keep her balanced. Violet, who has worn a face mask in public since suffering a post-viral condition in 2019, appeared to be in significant discomfort and unable to move normally. Hours later, she left the ER on crutches with her foot immobilized in an orthopedic boot, accompanied by her parents, who remained by her side throughout the ordeal.
The images of Ben and Jennifer supporting their daughter highlight the strong bond and affection they still share as a family. Since their 2018 split, the actors have built a relationship rooted in respect and teamwork, always prioritizing the well-being of their three children: Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14. Once again, they appeared united as they navigated concern for their daughter during this difficult health scare.
This latest episode once again underscored just how close-knit the family remains, even during challenging moments. Over the years, there have been many examples of their continued support for one another. Last summer, during the devastating wildfires that swept through Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles, Jennifer Garner reportedly welcomed Ben Affleck into her home after the actor’s property was affected by the fires.
Another notable moment following their divorce came when Affleck entered rehab to seek treatment for alcohol addiction. Garner personally drove him to the facility and stayed by his side for the sake of their children. Both have consistently prioritized family stability and built what many see as an exemplary co-parenting relationship. In recent years, they’ve continued celebrating Thanksgiving and other important occasions together, including their children’s birthdays. They’re often spotted at Samuel’s basketball games and at their children’s school events, offering a clear example of successful co-parenting.
The last time Violet was seen publicly was on May 9, when she returned home to celebrate Mother’s Day in the United States. She was photographed enjoying ice cream while out walking with her mother and brother Samuel. The daughter of the Oscar-winning Argo director drew particular attention because, for the first time in quite a while, she wasn’t wearing the mask that has become a regular part of her public appearances. She also removed her glasses, allowing her face, and her striking resemblance to her mother, to be seen clearly.
Violet, who has long since surpassed her famous mother in height, has also updated her look with a shoulder-length bob haircut.
In recent years, Violet Affleck has been seen wearing a mask during most public appearances, and it’s not by chance. The eldest daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner became an advocate for mask use and public health protections after contracting a post-viral illness in 2019.
In July 2024, Violet addressed the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to advocate for mask access and stronger public health protections, while also speaking publicly about her medical condition.
“I contracted a post-viral condition in 2019. I’m okay now, but I saw firsthand that medicine doesn’t always have answers for the lasting effects, even of mild viruses. The COVID-19 pandemic made that even clearer,” she said during her remarks.
She went on to call for greater public health measures, including access to masks, improved air filtration, ultraviolet light systems in government buildings, including jails and detention centers, and mask requirements in healthcare facilities.
Violet Affleck has spent the last two years studying at Yale University. While her exact major has not been officially confirmed, both her academic work and activism center on global health, climate justice, and public policy.
She has attracted growing public attention for her activism in academic and public health spaces, carving out her own identity far from the spotlight of Hollywood. Violet also wrote an article published in Yale’s global health journal titled A Chronically Sick Earth: Community Organizing, in which she examines the climate crisis.
She has participated in high-level public health forums and spoken openly about prevention strategies and community care during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and California wildfires.
In addition to her scientific and social interests, Violet studies Spanish, according to her father Ben Affleck, further reflecting her interest in languages and expanding her cultural perspective.
