Here are the details.<br \/>Over the past few weeks, we\u2019ve seen <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/04\/08\/report-iphones-accounted-for-half-of-the-top-10-best-selling-smartphones-in-q4-2025\/\">several reports<\/a> from research companies mapping the impact of memory shortages on the smartphone market.<br \/>These reports have generally shown that while Apple keeps <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/04\/15\/smartphone-market-down-and-worsening-but-apples-tactic-pays-off-idc\/\">reaping the benefits<\/a> of the successful iPhone 17 lineup, lower-end phone makers have been hit the hardest with the ongoing memory crunch, since their margins leave little room to absorb higher component costs.<br \/>Today, BNP Paribas issued an investor note (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-04-17\/apple-upgraded-as-bnp-paribas-sees-path-to-increase-market-share\"><em>Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>) arguing that Apple\u2019s supply chain and scale put it in a stronger position to weather those pressures and even gain share.<br \/>For this reason, BNP upgraded Apple\u2019s stock from \u2018neutral\u2019 to \u2018outperform\u2019, and set its price target to $300, a 15.3% bump from $260.<br \/>From <em>Bloomberg<\/em>:<br \/>\u201cWith a memory crunch having more impact on the smaller peers in the low\/mid range, we think Apple can leverage its size and unique supply chain to drive iPhone share gains, coupled with continuing mix shift to premium devices,\u201d wrote analyst David O\u2019Connor.<br \/>While Apple is also impacted by the memory issue, he added, \u201ciht [sic] has more levers on topline and cost to pull vs peers.\u201d<br \/>During <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/01\/29\/apple-reports-record-breaking-q1-2026-earnings-apple-reports-record-breaking-q1-2026-earnings-143-7-billion-in-revenue-up-16xx-billion-in-revenue-up-xx\/\">last quarter\u2019s earnings call<\/a>, Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Kevan Parekh said the company exited the December quarter with very lean iPhone inventory after stronger-than-expected demand, putting it in a \u201csupply chase\u201d to catch up.<br \/>They added that constraints at the time were tied to chip production limits rather than memory, which had little impact in the December quarter, but was expected to weigh more on margins in the March quarter, which Apple is <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/04\/02\/apple-sets-q2-2026-earnings-release-for-april-30\/\">expected to report on April 30<\/a>.<br \/>Cook also said Apple has \u201ca range of options\u201d to deal with rising memory costs, without going into specifics.<br \/>Apple\u2019s stock closed at $270.23 today, up 2.59%.
