As vendors race to supply compute power for enterprise deployments, CIOs will need to pay attention to constraints around available compute and infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>An AI model provider like Anthropic locking in large amounts of compute signals that \u201caccess to AI at scale will favor companies aligned <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>with hyperscaler infrastructure,\u201d Naveen Chhabra, principal analyst at Forrester<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span>, said in an email to CIO Dive.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u201cThe risk isn\u2019t model quality, it\u2019s whether enterprises can secure capacity, control costs and avoid long term lock-in as AI demand outpaces supply,\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Chhabra<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> said.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>CIOs will need to plan for compute as a constrained resource, anchor vendor strategies to the reality of available infrastructure, focus <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciodive.com\/news\/finops-teams-gain-clout-ai-costs-climb\/812887\/\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>FinOps on AI spend<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> and push vendors on transparency even as models are offered across multiple cloud providers, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Chhabra<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> said.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>As compute power becomes a strategic resource, vendors are striking new deals and expanding existing partnerships to better compete for enterprise dollars.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>AWS launched a multiyear partnership with OpenAI in <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>February<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> to <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciodive.com\/news\/aws-gains-enterprise-edge-openai-partnership\/813423\/\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>distribute OpenAI Frontier<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span>, the Anthropic competitor\u2019s enterprise platform for AI agents. The same month, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciodive.com\/news\/intel-sambanova-support-ai-compute\/813023\/\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Intel partnered with <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>SambaNov<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>a<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> to support enterprise AI inference capabilities. Meanwhile, IBM recently announced a <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciodive.com\/news\/ibm-arm-team-up-dual-architecture-hardware\/816528\/\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>collaboration with <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Arm<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> to build dual-architecture hardware supporting IBM Z mainframes to help enterprises run AI workloads.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>Anthropic on Tuesday announced <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/glasswing\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Project Glasswing<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span>, yet another initiative uniting multiple companies to use the LLM provider\u2019s unreleased frontier model \u2014 Claude Mythos Preview \u2014 as part of their cybersecurity strategies. Partnering companies include AWS, Anthropic, Apple, Broadcom, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Cisco, Crowdstrike, JPMorganChase, the Linux Foundation and Palo Alto Networks.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>Anthropic\u2019s move to expand its partnerships with Google and Broadcom demonstrates how compute access at scale serves as a \u201ckey differentiator for generalist models,\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Arnal Dayaratna, research VP for software development at IDC, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span>said in an email to CIO Dive.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>The vendor&#8217;s role in the partnerships \u201creflects how close alignment with large-scale compute providers can support the development and deployment of generalist systems,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u201cLarge, dedicated infrastructure commitments influence how quickly models can be trained, how frequently they can be iterated, and how broadly they can be deployed across enterprise workloads,\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Dayaratna<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> said. \u201cThe ability to secure this level of compute and to manage it effectively across training and inference is increasingly shaping which organizations can advance model capability and operate reliably at scale.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>The partnership signals that \u201cfrontier AI is moving from a chip race to a systems-and-power race,\u201d with the winners being providers that can secure silicon, interconnectivity and electricity together, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Woolcock<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> said.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><span><span><span><span>The move also demonstrates \u201ccapacity diversification and resiliency at the frontier,\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Woolcock<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> said.
