WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 <\/span>First Lady Melania Trump turned heads Wednesday morning at the White House\u2014but not for her usual fashion statements.
On the second day of the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit<\/a>, Mrs. Trump walked out alongside a U.S.-built humanoid robot as she prepared to address leaders from 45 nations and 28 technology organizations.
Like a scene from a sci-fi movie, the robot, named Figure 03, delivered brief remarks and welcomed roundtable guests in their native languages.
\u201cIt\u2019s fair to state you\u2019re my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House,\u201d Melania quipped before joining leaders.<\/p>\n

The summit focuses on expanding global access to education and technology for children.
\u201cAs people we dream. As leaders we progress. As nations we will build,\u201d Melania said in her opening remarks Tuesday. \u201cBeginning today, let\u2019s accelerate our new global alliance, this bond, to positively impact the progress of our children.\u201d
According to the White House<\/a>, the summit marks the first time a U.S. first lady has hosted representatives from 45 nations at the White House in a single day. The administration described the effort as \u201ca global coalition of nations aligned to empower children through education and technology.\u201d
The summit builds on Melania Trump\u2019s broader Fostering the Future initiative. Last year, she joined President Donald Trump in signing an executive order<\/a> aimed at expanding resources for teenagers in the foster care system.
\u201cThis executive order gives me tremendous pride. It is both empathetic and strategic,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI predict this small spark today will ignite a profound and lasting nationwide movement.\u201d
The initiative focuses on three main pillars\u2014well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse prevention\u2014and is part of the first lady\u2019s \u201cBe Best\u201d campaign <\/a>launched in May 2018.
