It&#8217;s not just bringing basketball and visitors, it&#8217;s bringing big money when it comes to tourism. FOX 13&#8217;s Blake Devine reports.<br \/><span class=\"dateline\"><strong>TAMPA, Fla.<\/strong> &#8211; <\/span>March Madness has taken over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox13news.com\/tag\/us\/fl\/hillsborough\/tampa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tampa<\/a>, bringing a surge of spending from fans across the country.<br \/>Eight teams are in town for the first and second rounds of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox13news.com\/tag\/ncaa-tournament\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA Tournament<\/a>. Their arrival is filling hotels, restaurants and bars across the city.<br \/>What they&#8217;re saying:<br \/>Chris Sharp flew in from Atlanta to take in the tourney.&#xA0;<br \/>He believes basketball brings fanbases together from across the country.<br \/>&quot;March Madness is a cultural event where everyone gets together,&quot; he said. &quot;Whether one fan base or multiple fan bases are in the same city.&quot;<br \/>Florida fan Max Dufflocq drove up from West Palm Beach with his daughter Valerie.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox13news.com\/news\/march-madness-ticket-scams-rise-games-tip-off-tampa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>READ: March Madness ticket scams on the rise as games tip off in Tampa<\/strong><\/a><br \/>&quot;We&#x2019;re here to watch the Gators in March Madness,&quot; he said. &quot;I&#x2019;ve always wanted to see it. This was a good chance because it was in state.&quot;<br \/>Others made much longer trips. This included Chris Enedy, who drove 19 hours from Buffalo, New York to see No. 1 seed Florida.<br \/>&quot;It was quite the experience, my first time driving that far,&quot; he said. &quot;I&#x2019;m here to watch some basketball.&quot;<br \/>Even fans without a team playing in Tampa are still showing up. North Carolina fan Courtney Ricks bought her tickets many months before Selection Sunday.<br \/>&quot;Bought these tickets multiple months ago,&quot; she said. &quot;Just here for the games and to see what happens.&quot;<br \/>Local perspective:<br \/>Lanness Robinson is the executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.
