PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014&nbsp; On a Tuesday night in late October 2026 in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Brewers made official what had become obvious. They are the best team in Major League Baseball. By a lot. Their historic sweeps of the Dodgers and Rays proved that.<br \/>I could do a blog on how great and legendary this Brewers team was, and about Cooper Pratt\u2019s game-winning 12th-inning homer, but you already know that.&nbsp;<br \/>When the Brewers won the World Series, flashes of faces I knew through the years at the ballpark randomly came to mind.&nbsp;<br \/>Gil was an usher at County Stadium. He was always very nice to me, and we talked about baseball a lot. Ed ran the press room at County Stadium and served me more brats than I care to remember. Joyce ran the elevator at then Miller Park. She was always so friendly and engaging.&nbsp;<br \/>Among people who worked for the Brewers front office (besides Bud Selig and Bob Uecker, who I mentioned in a previous blog): Bud\u2019s secretary Lori, who was also Vince Lombardi\u2019s secretary. Dick Hackett, who I got to know well through the old Pen and Mike Club. Tom Skibosh, former Brewers PR director and affectionately known as \u201cSky.\u201d His assistant Mario Ziino. Skibosh\u2019s successor, Jon Greenberg, now the president of the Milwaukee Admirals. Doug Melvin was always a gentleman.<br \/>It is an impossible task to name players, coaches and managers I enjoyed through the years.&nbsp;<br \/>I can only say that I\u2019ll always remember Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. Guys like Jerry Augustine, Marcus Hanel, Larry Hisle, Dan Plesac and Bill Castro treated me great.<br \/>The Brewers\u2019 first World Series title is about this year\u2019s unique team. It\u2019s also about everyone who\u2019s ever been associated with the Brewers since they moved to Milwaukee in 1970.&nbsp;<br \/>Whether they\u2019re still alive or not, this Brewers victory is for all of them. All of us.
