Disclosed in FY 2025 filings, the move completes a corporate tidying-up that began when Sport Zone Espa\u00f1a was absorbed in 2018.<br \/>Having gained approval from its board, the Spanish retailer <strong>Sprinter<\/strong> is set to begin proceedings to merge with <strong>Sport Zone Canarias S.L.U.<\/strong>, according to <em>Distribuci\u00f3n Actualidad<\/em> and <em>Diffusion Sport<\/em>.<br \/>Sport Zone Canarias has been a separate legal entity since the formation of <strong>Iberian Sports Retail Group<\/strong> (<strong>ISRG<\/strong>). (We reported in April 2024 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgieurope.com\/change-of-iberian-plans-for-sprinter-sport-zone\/108270.article\" target=\"_blank\">divorce<\/a> that preceded <strong>JD Sports<\/strong>\u2019 acquisition of ISRG.) In earlier days Sport Zone operated in Spain through two subsidiaries: one for mainland Spain, one for the Canary Islands \u2013 respectively <strong>Sport Zone Espa\u00f1a Comercio de Art\u00edculos de Deporte<\/strong> and Sport Zone Canarias. Sport Zone Espa\u00f1a was absorbed into Sprinter in late 2018.<br \/>This new merger, nearly eight years later, would tidy up the corporate structure. The plans are disclosed in Sprinter\u2019s reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgieurope.com\/financial-results\/sprinter-back-in-the-black\/121343.article\">full-year 2025<\/a> (ended Jan. 31, 2026).<br \/>Over the course of FY 2025 Sprinter opened ten stores and seven renovations, among them the two stores that lay in the path of the flash flood (DANA) of October 2024 in Valencia. The store count stands at 221 as of the recent openings in Getafe (Madrid) and El Ejido (Almer\u00eda).<br \/>ISRG has settled on <strong>Jos\u00e9 P\u00e9rez Mil\u00e1<\/strong> to continue serving as its Managing Director. He took up the post in September 2024. It has also appointed <strong>C\u00e9sar Cuadrillero<\/strong> to serve as Commercial &amp; Operations Director, which post will now carry oversight of E-Commerce, Creative, Customer Service and Marketing Technology.<br \/>Meanwhile, <strong>Hilario Pell\u00edn<\/strong> will now be overseeing ISRG\u2019s Brand Marketing staff. According to his <em>LinkedIn<\/em> page, Pell\u00edn will soon have been with Sprinter for nine years, serving most recently as Brand &amp; Product Director.
