(WMTV) &#8211; It was a beautiful day on the green on Monday at Blackhawk Country Club as current and former Wisconsin natives, athletes and coaches came together for the fourth annual Badger Celebrity Scramble.<br \/>Badgers assistant men\u2019s basketball coach Sharif Chambliss, who is heavily involved with the event, said the day began as a way for UW figures to use their platform for something bigger than sports. <br \/>\u201cWe were figuring out ways on our platform, how we can help people,\u201d Chambliss said. \u201cSo we said let\u2019s do a celebrity golf outing, and it\u2019s been absolutely awesome to watch this thing grow.\u201d<br \/>Chambliss said the goal Monday was to raise more than $200,000, with proceeds supporting cancer research efforts connected to UW and the Carbone Cancer Center. <br \/>\u201cThis thing has been sold out, and we have more people donating stuff every year,\u201d he said, adding the money \u201cgoes right to the bench\u201d for research.<br \/>The outing showcases exactly what many around the program call the Badger family. <br \/>\u201cOnce you\u2019re a Badger, you\u2019re always a Badger,\u201d Chambliss said. \u201cFor us, it\u2019s about pouring into the community, for the same goal.\u201d<br \/>Wisconsin football head coach Luke Fickell said events like this are one of the best parts of being at UW. <br \/>\u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s awesome about college athletics, everybody is tied together,\u201d Fickell said. \u201cThere\u2019s great things that bring you together, learning from each other.\u201d<br \/>Wisconsin men\u2019s basketball head coach Greg Gard echoed that sentiment, crediting the Madison community\u2019s generosity. <br \/>\u201cThe neat thing is the community comes together for one cause,\u201d Gard said. \u201cWe should not take it for granted the support that we get and how generous people are.\u201d<br \/>Among the several notables taking part on Monday were Fickell, Gard, Wisconsin men\u2019s hockey head coach Mike Hastings, former Badgers standout Johnny Davis, current Badgers forward Nolan Winter, women\u2019s hockey legend Lacey Eden, and Badger football linebackers Cooper Catalano and Mason Posa.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbc15.com\/page\/find-nbc15-news-wherever-you-are\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><i>Click here<\/i><\/a><i> to download the WMTV15 News app or our WMTV15 First Alert weather app.<\/i><br \/><i>Copyright 2026 WMTV.
