Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., plans to return to Capitol Hill on June 30 after missing more than 100 votes during a nearly four-month absence from Washington.

Kean\u2019s chief of staff, Dan Scharfenberger, confirmed to NBC News on Thursday the date of Kean\u2019s planned return. The New Jersey Globe<\/a> first reported the news.
Kean\u2019s office previously said that the congressman\u2019s absence was due to a \u201cpersonal medical issue\u201d but has not disclosed any further details on his condition.
Kean last voted in the Capitol on March 5, but his office has kept active on social media<\/a> while he\u2019s stayed out of the public eye.
The congressman is running for re-election and will face off with Democrat Rebecca Bennett,<\/a> a former Navy helicopter pilot and healthcare executive, in November.
President Donald Trump, who has endorsed the New Jersey Republican, reiterated his support for Kean with a Truth Social post<\/a> on June 1.
Trump wrote that Kean was \u201cworking tirelessly\u201d and has his \u201cComplete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election.\u201d
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told reporters last month that he spoke with Kean in April and downplayed the impact of his absence on Kean\u2019s re-election campaign.
\u201cHe\u2019s had a medical issue, and he\u2019s going to be fully transparent and disclose all that … but I don\u2019t even know the details. It\u2019s a member\u2019s personal privacy on whatever matters they\u2019re dealing with,\u201d Johnson told reporters in May. \u201cHe\u2019s going to get re-elected, and we look forward to welcoming him back here very soon.\u201d
Johnson told reporters last week that he \u201cencouraged Tom to be transparent\u201d about his condition.
