Florida State University\u2019s education and educational research program ranks No. 25 globally,\u00a0No. 2\u00a0among public universities in the United States\u00a0and No. 1 in Florida\u00a0in the\u00a02026-27\u00a0Best Global Universities rankings<\/a>\u00a0released by U.S. News & World Report.
Florida State also ranked among the world\u2019s top 100 institutions in psychiatry and psychology (No. 80), social sciences and public health (No. 89) and arts and humanities (No. 92).
The rankings evaluate more than 2,250 universities in more than 100 countries based on academic research performance and global and regional research reputation. The\u00a0methodology\u00a0emphasizes factors such as publications,\u00a0citations\u00a0and international collaboration.
\u201cThese rankings\u00a0across crucial professions and disciplines\u00a0reflect the quality of our faculty and the impact of their scholarship,” said Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Clark. “The recognition earned by our education program, along with strong performances in psychology, the social sciences and the humanities, demonstrates\u00a0the public value proposition of the\u00a0academic excellence across Florida State University.\u201d
FSU\u2019s performance reflects the university’s continued growth as a leading research institution. The university recorded a record $488 million in research expenditures, a 50 percent increase since 2021,\u00a0and surpassed\u00a0$1.2 billion\u00a0in research funding proposals in 2025.
U.S.\u00a0News uses data from\u00a0Clarivate’s Web of Science Core Collection<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0InCites\u00a0Benchmarking & Analytics<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0evaluate\u00a0universities.\u00a0The Best Global Universities rankings focus primarily on institutions’ research performance and scholarly impact rather than undergraduate education.
