A 16-year-old Lil Wayne drops the phrase in “Tha Block is Hot,” from his 1999 debut release \u2013 the same album on which the slang term “bling-bling” makes an appearance.
Now a five-time Grammy Award winner, the artist also known as “Weezy” is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his seminal “Tha Carter” album series by extending his North American tour into 2026.
“Tha Carter VI” tour featuring Lil Wayne with special guest 2 Chainz<\/a> will come to Nationwide Arena on July 23.

An honors student and drama club kid in his native New Orleans, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. left school his sophomore year for a GED and his already blossoming music career.
Known for his wit, creative wordplay and raspy, autotuned flow, Lil Wayne broke through with his 2004 album, “Tha Carter,” the first in a numerical series of six chart-topping, critically applauded albums.
He was the first male artist to surpass Elvis Presley<\/a> with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, amassing 186 entries to The King’s 108.
Lil Wayne also set a Guinness World Record for most Hot 100 entries by a hip-hop artist in 2011, a title that has since been claimed by Drake<\/a>, whose career was launched by Young Money Entertainment \u2013 founded by none other than Lil Wayne.
