CHAMPAIGN \u2014 A new Veterans Affairs clinic is set to open in Champaign, enabling local veterans to receive care closer to home.
The clinic at 1702 S. Mattis Ave., Suite 101, will begin providing patient care Monday, said Staci Williams, executive director of VA Illiana Healthcare System in Danville.
\u201cThe opening of this new clinic strengthens VA\u2019s presence in the region and brings high-quality healthcare services closer to veterans in Champaign County and surrounding communities,\u201d Williams said.
The clinic, developed in partnership with Carle Health, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, according to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
The Illiana Healthcare System serves more than 29,000 veterans in a 34-county area spanning central Illinois and west-central Indiana, per the health system\u2019s website.
In addition to the Danville medical center \u2014 previously, the closest option for veterans in Champaign-Urbana \u2014 the system also includes \u201ccommunity-based outpatient clinics\u201d in Bloomington, Decatur, Mattoon, Peoria and Springfield.
Carle announced the collaboration on the local clinic in late March, stating that the VA Illiana team \u201cwill deliver all primary care services at this location.\u201d
The new facility will be located at 1702 S. Mattis Ave. and is expected to open this summer, officials announced Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
