We look forward to working with Roscosmos on a collaborative approach to address the leaks.\u201d<br \/>The air leaks appear to have been an issue for the <strong>International Space Station<\/strong> for some time: In June, a chartered spaceflight for India, Poland and Hungary\u2019s first astronauts in decades was postponed over leak concerns.<br \/>The Russian <strong>Roscosmos<\/strong> space agency has been dealing with cracks and air leaks in its station compartments for more than five years, with Nasa\u2019s office of inspector general calling them \u201ca top safety risk\u201d.<br \/>More here:<br \/>Here is some live feed being taken from the <strong>International Space Station<\/strong>:<br \/>A Nasa spokesperson said on Friday that the <strong>air leaks<\/strong> that prompted Nasa to order five astronauts aboard the <strong>International Space Station<\/strong> to prepare for a possible evacuation were located in the transfer tunnel of the <strong>Zvezda Service Module.<\/strong><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/international-space-station\/zvezda-service-module\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">According to Nasa<\/a>, this module is about 43 feet in length and contains living quarters, life support systems, communications systems, electrical power distribution, data processing systems, flight control systems and propulsion systems.<br \/>It was the first fully Russian contribution to the ISS and includes a docking port for Russian Soyuz and Progress spacecraft.<br \/>The <strong>International Space Station<\/strong> is an orbital laboratory located about 250 miles above Earth.<br \/>It is operated by five partner space agencies: the American <strong>National Aeronautics and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/science\/space\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Space<\/a> administration (Nasa)<\/strong>, the <strong>Canadian Space agency (Csa)<\/strong>, the <strong>European Space Agency (Esa)<\/strong>, the <strong>Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Jaxa)<\/strong> and the Russian <strong>State Space Corporation \u201cRoscosmos\u201d<\/strong>.<br \/>International crews travel to the ISS to conduct scientific research in <strong>microgravity<\/strong>.
