The Philadelphia Union removed the interim tag from Jon Scheer\u2019s title on Wednesday.
Scheer was named the Union sporting director after serving in the interim role for the last few months.
\u201cJon has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, a deep understanding of our club philosophy, and a clear vision for the future of the Philadelphia Union,\u201d Union principal owner Jay Sugarman said in a statement. \u201cAs we enter a new chapter for the organization, we are confident in Jon\u2019s ability to lead our sporting operations and get us back on track with a culture centered around development, ambition, and sustained success.\u201d
Scheer has been with the club since 2018. He served as the Union\u2019s director of academy and player development prior to being the interim sporting director.
Bradley Carnell\u2019s departure was made official on Wednesday as well.
\u201cOn behalf of the Philadelphia Union organization, I want to thank Bradley for his dedication and commitment to the club during his time here,\u201d Sugarman said. \u201cHe brought professionalism and passion to his role, and we appreciate everything he has contributed to the team and the organization. We are confident that he will find success in his future coaching endeavors.\u201d

Philadelphia Union II head coach Ryan Richter has been named the club\u2019s interim head coach.
Richter was a first-team assistant under Jim Curtin from 2022-24 before he took over as the Union II head coach in 2025 when Carnell was hired as first-team head coach.
\u201cWhile the search for a new head coach begins immediately, we have full confidence in Ryan’s ability to lead the team through this transition, given his familiarity with the players and strong commitment to the club\u2019s philosophy and style of play,\u201d Sugarman said.<\/p>\n
