(May 22, 2026) \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>During Mental Health Awareness Month, the University of Kentucky is highlighting resources and programs available to support the mental well-being of faculty, staff and students.<br \/>Since 1949, Mental Health America has worked to educate people about mental health, raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health conditions. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cMore Good Days, Together,\u201d encourages people to prioritize connection, seek support and foster open conversations around mental health.<br \/>At UK, those conversations continued during Wildcat Check-In Week in April, when <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uky.edu\/work-life-and-well-being\">UK Human Resources Health and Wellness<\/a> partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/studentsuccess.uky.edu\/power\">POWER: Prevention, Outreach and Wellness Education Resources<\/a>, housed in the Office for Student Success,\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/ukhealthcare.uky.edu\/community-commitment\/about-us\">UK HealthCare\u2019s Healthy Kentucky Initiative<\/a>\u00a0for a weeklong focus on mental health and suicide prevention. Employees and students participated in mental health check-ins, creative writing exercises, suicide prevention training and other wellness activities. The week concluded with a ceremony of remembrance honoring those who lost their lives to suicide.<br \/>\u201cWe all have times when we feel overwhelmed and depleted,&#8221; said Rhonda Henry, mental health therapist with UK HR Health and Wellness. &#8220;In some situations, it may be clear we need support \u2013 we\u2019ve had a major trauma or loss. Other times, it may be more difficult to figure out what\u2019s wrong or decide whether therapy would help. Our team of therapists have collaborative, strengths-based approaches to help employees and their families in neutral, supportive spaces to process the challenge they are facing.\u201d<br \/>UK offers a variety of mental health and wellness resources for employees, faculty and staff, including:<br \/>Additional mental health resources for faculty and staff are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uky.edu\/work-life-and-well-being\/mental-health\">HR Health and Wellness website<\/a>.<br \/><em>As the state\u2019s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth.
