{"id":16103,"date":"2026-05-13T13:19:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T13:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalnewstoday.uk\/index.php\/2026\/05\/13\/effort-energy-lead-to-big-news-for-charlevoixs-landon-swanson-with-cmu-football-petoskey-news-review\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T13:19:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T13:19:10","slug":"effort-energy-lead-to-big-news-for-charlevoixs-landon-swanson-with-cmu-football-petoskey-news-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalnewstoday.uk\/index.php\/2026\/05\/13\/effort-energy-lead-to-big-news-for-charlevoixs-landon-swanson-with-cmu-football-petoskey-news-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Effort, energy lead to big news for Charlevoix\u2019s Landon Swanson with CMU football &#8211; Petoskey News-Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MOUNT PLEASANT \u2014\u00a0From the <a href=https:\/\/www.petoskeynews.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/2024\/03\/03\/charlevoixs-landon-swanson-brady-jess-earn-state-title-in-wrestling\/72711423007\/>wrestling mat as a state champion<\/a> in high school, to the Charlevoix football field taking on blockers or beating defenders to the end zone, Landon Swanson has always given everything he has.\u00a0<br \/>It eventually <a href=https:\/\/www.petoskeynews.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/2024\/02\/07\/charlevoixs-swanson-greensky-ink-with-central-michigan-and-nmu\/72448785007\/>landed him a spot on the Central Michigan University<\/a> football team as a preferred walk-on out of high school.\u00a0<br \/>\u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019ve been good at throughout high school and throughout college, winning the on-on-one battles and being tougher than the guy across from me,\u201d Swanson said.\u00a0<br \/>At CMU, that mindset is what got Swanson onto the field as a redshirt freshman last season. That effort and energy brought him snaps on defense, where he even recorded a sack, and turned him into an ace on special teams.\u00a0<br \/>\u201cAll special teams are is hard work and how bad you want it,\u201d Swanson said. \u201cJust beating the man across from you in a one on one battle. That\u2019s really gotten me to where I am now.\u201d<br \/>Where Swanson is now is a far cry from his 2024 redshirt season.\u00a0<br \/>He\u2019s switched positions three times, moving from linebacker then defensive end, to now offense as a tight end and H-back.\u00a0<br \/><span class=exclude-from-newsgate><strong style=margin-right:3px>Track Regional Primer: <\/strong><a href=https:\/\/www.petoskeynews.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/2026\/05\/12\/mhsaa-track-regionals-division-3-4-charlevoix-inland-lakes\/89986043007\/ rel=noreferrer target=_blank>Charlevoix boys track heads into regionals with momentum, check the athletes to watch<\/a><\/span><br \/>He\u2019s grown from 6-foot-2 and just over 200 pounds as a freshman, to just under 250 entering year three.\u00a0<br \/>He\u2019s also now dropped his walk-on status, which CMU head coach Matt Drinkall recently informed Swanson of. When he takes the field in the fall, he\u2019ll do so as a scholarship player.<br \/>\u201cHe brought me into his office a week after spring ball ended,\u201d Swanson said. \u201cHe asked me how I like tight end and all of that and then said come fall, when a position opens up, he\u2019s going to put me on full scholarship.\u201d<br \/>Hearing the news between a team meeting and a lifting session, Swanson hit the weights with a little extra juice that day.<br \/>\u201cI was pretty ecstatic,\u201d Swanson said. \u201cI was just pumped up that entire lift. I didn\u2019t tell anyone on the team yet.
