A unique opportunity for young women in Cyprus to experience diplomacy first-hand is being offered through the initiative ‘Woman Ambassador for a Day’, implemented by female\u2011led embassies serving in Cyprus.<\/b>
The initiative forms part of a broader European and international effort to strengthen women\u2019s participation in diplomacy, aiming to empower women in leadership roles and enhance their representation in shaping foreign policy, a relevant press release states.
The initiative <\/b>
The ‘Diplomat for a Day’ initiative, implemented in several European countries in recent years, aims to inspire and encourage young women to pursue careers in diplomacy and international relations.
In Cyprus, the initiative is carried out through the collaboration of embassies led by female ambassadors from European and non\u2011European countries and forms part of joint activities marking the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, fostering dialogue on gender equality and women\u2019s participation in global affairs.
During last year\u2019s edition, participants had the opportunity to accompany female ambassadors in official meetings, gain insight into the work of diplomatic missions, and engage in discussions on key international issues, gaining valuable experience and professional exposure, the press release notes.
Call for applications<\/b>
The Embassy of Hungary in Nicosia, acting as coordinator of this initiative on behalf of the participating embassies, invites young women to apply for the program.
Eligibility criteria:<\/b>
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to spend one day alongside a female ambassador between 26 May and 24 June 2026, on a date to be arranged in consultation with the embassy.
