As the season\u00a0comes to an end, the UND\u00a0Men’s\u00a0Tennis team is keeping their\u00a0rhythm\u00a0and staying strong both on and off the court. Holding\u00a0the second team standing in the Summit\u00a0League\u00a0as they\u00a0head into\u00a0their final regular season match up\u00a0against\u00a0Illinois\u00a0State\u00a0before\u00a0the\u00a0play-offs.\u00a0As the season progresses, the team is focused on ending the season strong.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
This final\u00a0matchup\u00a0of the regular season is\u00a0make\u00a0or break for the team, deciding\u00a0their fate into the playoffs. The team started\u00a0the season\u00a0off on\u00a0a\u00a0strong\u00a0foot,\u00a0consecutively\u00a0winning their first four matches, before hitting a\u00a0mid-season\u00a0dip,\u00a0which they have\u00a0proven\u00a0to bounce back from. They have regained their momentum\u00a0to end the season on a high note.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
This season has been highlighted as a year of development. With a mix of veteran players and\u00a0new faces\u00a0om\u00a0the team, building\u00a0strong team\u00a0relationships and connections has\u00a0been key to\u00a0helping\u00a0them\u00a0flourish.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\u201cBeing new to the team and\u00a0colligate\u00a0tennis this\u00a0year\u00a0I was a little nervous coming into\u00a0it\u00a0but\u00a0the true aspect of being a team and the sense of community that we have has made it an easy transition,\u201d said Fr. UND\u00a0Men’s\u00a0Tennis\u00a0player,\u00a0Justin Ilic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
One of the\u00a0teams’\u00a0defining strengths that\u00a0has\u00a0been\u00a0seen throughout\u00a0this\u00a0season\u00a0has\u00a0been their relentless\u00a0competitiveness.\u00a0Match after match players show their willingness to fight\u00a0until\u00a0the last point\u00a0and\u00a0give it their all. This determination and drive\u00a0has\u00a0helped the team stay resilient throughout the season and gives them hope for\u00a0the playoffs.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\u201cSeeing my\u00a0teammates\u00a0be so competitive and\u00a0resilient\u00a0no matter the odds, score or\u00a0exhaustion\u00a0has truly been inspiring to me and has pushed me to be a better player,\u201d said Ilic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
Despite\u00a0their\u00a0strengths\u00a0this season, the\u00a0team has still faced\u00a0challenges\u00a0along the way.\u00a0Inconsistency\u00a0and lapses in focus\u00a0have\u00a0costed\u00a0the team\u00a0this season.\u00a0Additionally, player injuries have\u00a0negatively\u00a0impacted\u00a0the team this season, causing line-up changes\u00a0and adjustment.\u00a0Despite these\u00a0challenges, the team has\u00a0adapted\u00a0and is ready to take on what the rest of the season has in store.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
As the regular season wraps up, their hopes for a post season and a chance in the playoffs\u00a0stay\u00a0strong.\u00a0Taking place on Apr. 25-25, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Not having a National Championship under their belt,\u00a0the team is hoping\u00a0their\u00a0drive,\u00a0skill and\u00a0teamwork\u00a0will\u00a0lead them to the championship and make history\u00a0for\u00a0UND.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
Regardless of the\u00a0outcome,\u00a0this season has left a positive mark on the\u00a0Men’s\u00a0Tennis\u00a0program here at UND.\u00a0From early struggles\u00a0to late-season comebacks, the team has shown development,\u00a0resilience, and a strong competitive spirit.<\/span>
