After undergoing that follow-up procedure, NFL Network&#8217;s Ian Rapoport indicated Nix is expected to be ready for <a href=https:\/\/x.com\/RapSheet\/status\/2049294881596879347 target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the start of training camp<\/a>.<br \/>Denver&#8217;s brass (<a href=https:\/\/broncoswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/broncos\/2026\/01\/29\/nfl-news-bo-nix-contradicts-sean-payton-on-injury\/88412136007\/ target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">and the QB himself<\/a>) had previously indicated Nix was on track for organized team activities (OTAs), but if Rapoport&#8217;s timeline is accurate, Nix returning for training camp would see him back on the field in late July, not this spring.<br \/>If Nix is not available for OTAs and mandatory minicamp in June, the <a target=_blank href=https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/denver-broncos\/332 data-autotag=80ecb2c2-c4e3-4c9a-8c53-01c0a2da3542>Broncos<\/a> would be down to two healthy quarterbacks in Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger. Even though it would be lighter sessions than training camp, Denver might consider bringing in a fourth-string &#8220;camp arm&#8221; to serve as QB3 if Nix is sidelined this spring.<br \/>Last year, the Broncos invited ex-<a href=https:\/\/saintswire.usatoday.com\/ target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Orleans Saints<\/a> quarterback <a href=https:\/\/broncoswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/broncos\/2025\/05\/09\/nfl-news-broncos-invite-qb-ian-book-tryout\/83532070007\/ target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ian Book<\/a> and Princeton quarterback <a href=https:\/\/broncoswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/broncos\/2025\/04\/27\/denver-broncos-news-qb-rbs-invited-to-rookie-minicamp\/83318355007\/ target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Blake Stenstrom<\/a> to try out at rookie minicamp, but neither QB was signed after that camp. The list of veteran free agent QBs available this spring includes Josh Dobbs, Cooper Rush, Jeff Driskel, John Wolford, Easton Stick, Brett Rypien and Ben DiNucci, who Denver <a href=https:\/\/broncoswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/broncos\/2026\/01\/18\/nfl-news-broncos-sign-ben-dinucci-after-bo-nix-injury\/88246303007\/ target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed during the NFL playoffs<\/a> after Nix broke his ankle in January.<br \/>The Broncos are expected to <a href=https:\/\/broncoswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/broncos\/2026\/04\/28\/broncos-running-backs-invited-rookie-minicamp\/89841297007\/ target=_blank rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invite a veteran QB<\/a> to try out at this year&#8217;s rookie minicamp.
