Oil prices are yo-yoing on continued uncertainty about what will happen next in the war with Iran.<br \/>The S&#038;P 500 slipped 0.3% in the early going Thursday following a big rally that erased all its losses because of the war. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 193 points, and the Nasdaq composite fell 0.4%.<br \/>Oil prices wavered as uncertainty continues about what will happen with the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, the Israeli army said it intercepted an \u201caerial target\u201d in southern Lebanon.<br \/>The group reiterated that its attacks, which resumed Tuesday, were in retaliation for Israeli violations of the 10-day ceasefire that took effect Friday. The Israeli army has been launching near-daily strikes on southern Lebanon since the ceasefire.<br \/>Israel has also been accusing Hezbollah of breaching the ceasefire.<br \/>Trump claims leadership rift is confounding Iran<br \/>\u201cIran is having a very hard time figuring out who their leader is! Two of them were inside the vehicle targeted on Salah al-Din Street near Maghazi camp, while a third was nearby, hospital director Raed Hussein told The Associated Press. Three others were injured.<br \/>The Israeli military didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment.<br \/>A fragile Israel-Hamas ceasefire has held since October, but renewed strikes have killed 791 people and wounded 2,235, according to the latest figures released by Gaza\u2019s health ministry, which doesn\u2019t distinguish between civilians and combatants in its toll.<br \/>US military seizes oil tanker associated with Iran<br \/>The U.S. military seized another tanker Thursday associated with smuggling Iranian oil.<br \/>The U.S. Defense Department said it seized the oil tanker Majestic X in the Indian Ocean.<br \/>\u201cWe will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate,\u201d the Defense Department said.<br \/>The seizure comes after Iran attacked three cargo ships Wednesday in the Strait of Hormuz, capturing two of them.<br \/>The Defense Department released footage of the seizure of the vessel, showing U.S. troops on the deck of the vessel.<br \/>Ship-tracking data showed the Majestic X in the Indian Ocean between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, roughly the same location as the oil tanker Tifani, earlier seized by American forces. It had been bound for Zhoushan, China.<br \/>The Majestic X is a Guyana-flagged oil tanker. It previously had been named Phonix and had been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2024 for smuggling Iranian crude oil in contravention of American sanctions on the Islamic Republic.<br \/>\u201cIran relies upon a sprawling network of tankers and ship management firms in multiple jurisdictions to transport its petroleum to overseas customers \u2014 using tactics such as false documentation, manipulation of vessel tracking systems, and constant changes to the names and flags of vessels,\u201d the Treasury said at the time.<br \/>There was no immediate response from Iran on the news of the seizure.<br \/>Since the start of the war between Iran, Israel and the United States, over 30 ships have come under attack in the waters of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. The threat of attack, rising insurance premiums and other fears have stopped traffic from moving through the strait, through which 20% of all crude oil and natural gas traded passes.<br \/>Iran\u2019s ability to restrict traffic through the strait, which leads from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean, has proved a major strategic advantage.<br \/>After the attacks Wednesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Channel that American officials that Iran\u2019s seizure of the ships didn\u2019t violate truce terms because \u201cthese were not U.S. or Israeli ships, these were two international vessels.\u201d<br \/>However, the ceasefire has been strained by dueling American attacks on Iranian ships and those by Iran on commercial vessels. It also remains unclear when, or if, the two sides will meet again in Islamabad, where Pakistani officials say they are still trying to bring the countries together to reach a diplomatic deal.<br \/>Iran\u2019s exiled crown prince splattered with red liquid<br \/>Iran\u2019s exiled <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-protests-crown-prince-reza-pahlavi-cec4123ec75a0953bc0726e46ad32f1f\">Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi<\/a> was splattered with red liquid Thursday as he left a building after a news conference in Berlin.<br \/>He waved to supporters in the aftermath and got into a car that drove away.<br \/>The alleged perpetrator was immediately detained by police.<br \/>Pahlavi has been in exile for nearly 50 years.<br \/>His father, Iran\u2019s shah, was so widely hated that millions took to the streets in 1979, forcing him from power. Nevertheless, Pahlavi is trying to position himself as a player in his country\u2019s future.<br \/>Iran\u2019s exiled crown prince criticizes ceasefire<br \/>Reza Pahlavi, Iran\u2019s exiled crown prince, criticized the ceasefire between the Unites States and Iran.<br \/>He argued Thursday that the agreement assumes the Iranian government\u2019s behavior will change and \u201cyou\u2019re going to deal with people who all of a sudden have become pragmatists.\u201d<br \/>\u201cI don\u2019t see that happening,\u201d he said during a news conference in Berlin. \u201cI\u2019m not saying that diplomacy should not be given a chance, but I think diplomacy has been given enough chance.\u201d<br \/>Pahlavi has tried to position himself for a return to power should the Shiite theocracy fall and has supported the U.S.-Israeli military intervention in the Middle East.<br \/>Pahlavi called on Europeans to do more to support Iranian people fighting for democracy.<br \/>He claimed 19 political prisoners were executed by Iranian authorities in the past two weeks and another 20 people have been sentenced to death.<br \/>\u201cWill the free world do something or watch the slaughter in silence,\u201d Pahlavi wondered.<br \/>Pakistan interior minister meets US official<br \/>Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement Thursday he hoped for \u201cpositive progress\u201d from Iran after a meeting with U.S. Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires Natalie Baker.<br \/>The meeting in Pakistan\u2019s capital Islamabad included discussion of diplomatic efforts related to a second round of U.S.-Iran ceasefire talks, which was delayed after Tehran did not confirm when it would send its delegation.<br \/>Naqvi said Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir were making efforts \u201cat every level\u201d to support a peaceful settlement and hoped all sides would give diplomacy a chance.<br \/>Naqvi praised U.S. President Donald Trump for extending the ceasefire, calling it a welcome step toward de-escalation.<br \/>Baker appreciated Pakistan\u2019s \u201cconstructive role\u201d in promoting peace, the statement said.<br \/>Iran hangs another member of exiled opposition group<br \/>Iran said Thursday it hanged another member of the Iranian exiled opposition group Mujahedeen-e-Khalq.<br \/>The Mizan news agency of Iran\u2019s judiciary identified the man as Soltanali Shirzadi Fakhr.<br \/>It accused him of cooperating with the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, without offering specifics. It also did not say when or where it arrested him.<br \/>Iran has accused many it has hanged during the war as having links to Israel.
