Actor Jeremy Renner<\/a>, who experienced a life-changing, near-fatal accident on New Year’s Day 2023 when he was crushed by a snowcat, causing blunt chest trauma and 38 broken bones, is partnering with and investing in emergency response platform RapidSOS<\/a>.
New York-based RapidSOS provides emergency responders with real-time health and location data before they arrive on the scene, collected from smartphones and other connected devices, including wearables, motor vehicles and nearby surveillance systems.
Renner will support the advancement of technology, especially pertaining to AI, focused on protecting and supporting first responders.
The partnership begins with a documentary entitled “Behind the Emergency” about Renner’s story and how AI can help with public safety.
“Our first responders and healthcare workers put their lives on the line every day. Being able to help our helpers is personally important to me,” Jeremy Renner said in a statement.
“What they need is the right information, at the right moment. When they have it, they can come together and problem-solve. That’s why I’m excited to partner with RapidSOS to support the people on the front lines and the work they do every day.”
THE LARGER TREND<\/strong>
Renner was the closing keynote speaker at the 2026 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exposition<\/a> in March in Las Vegas.
During that event, the Oscar-nominated actor described his accident<\/a>, road to recovery and appreciation for first responders, noting that their rapid action and expertise were critical to his survival and recovery.
While grateful for his care, Renner highlighted significant frustrations he experienced as a patient navigating the healthcare system, including a lack of coordination among his care teams and multiple specialists ordering repeated tests and procedures without communicating with one another.
Renner said that despite the high quality of individual clinicians, the system itself felt segregated, with limited data sharing between providers.
The actor advocated for better healthcare data sharing and interoperability, arguing that patient information should flow easily from first responders to hospital teams and across all stages of care.
