NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – High school football is king in Louisiana. It bears that out in the recruiting rankings, and the amount of players from “The Boot” that make it to the NFL.
The 2027 recruiting class is no different. There’s five 2027 recruits in the top-16 of the Rivals industry rankings with a connection to Louisiana.
Brother Martin wide receiver Easton Royal is No. 9 overall in the country. The Texas Longhorns commit is the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation according to Rivals. Lane Kiffin and his staff are working overtime to flip the Slidell native.
Dunham (Baton Rouge) quarterback Elijah Haven is No. 11 overall. In the Rivals industry rankings, the 6′4″ record-breaking QB is No. 1 at his position. Haven accounted for 73 touchdowns last year, with 62 of those being touchdown passes (state record). Haven is a heavy lean to Alabama.
Sam Houston (Lake Charles) offensive lineman Albert Simien is No. 12 overall. ESPN ranks Simien the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the nation. Texas A&M and LSU are the major suitors for Simien.
Ruston tight end Ahmad Hudson is No. 14 overall. He’s the No. 1 tight end in the country according to Rivals industry rankings. Hudson’s father, Antonio, played basketball at LSU from 2001-2005. The Tigers are the favorites to land Hudson, but Nebraska is also in the hunt.
Former Jesuit and current IMG (Florida) EDGE defender Zyron Forstall is No. 16 overall. He’s the No. 2 EDGE in the country. Forstall is committed to Texas A&M.
