GREENSBORO — The School Nutrition Association of North Carolina has named Johnston County Public Schools its March District of the Month for community service efforts.
Members of the Johnston County chapter assembled 100 Easter baskets for children receiving care at UNC Children’s Hospital. The baskets were distributed during the Easter season to provide comfort to patients spending the holiday in the hospital.
The project was supported by local donors and school nutrition staff who helped deliver the baskets.
Organizers said the effort reflects a broader commitment to serving the community beyond school cafeterias. The recognition honors both the initiative and the district’s ongoing outreach efforts.
