JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Twenty-five years ago this year, the Heritage Discovery Center, in Johnstown’s Cambria City neighborhood, opened its doors to welcome visitors to a highly immersive exhibit that tells the most important story of the city — the one about the immigrants who came here and helped to build it into the renowned early industrial powerhouse that it once was.
We spoke to the curator of Heritage Johnstown bout the exhibit dedicated to those who came here and helped forge the city’s place in American history.
Officials add that ending the tour of the exhibit is a short film, called ‘Generations,’ which features several family members of the early immigrants recalling their memories of what it was like at the height of Johnstown’s industrial age.
The exhibit is open during the Heritage Discovery Center’s normal operating hours.
