Cheryl Hines is speaking out after comedian Chelsea Handler claimed she bought her and husband RFK Jr.’s “toxic” house.
Handler revealed on a March 5 episode of her podcast “Dear Chelsea” that she bought a Los Angeles home from the couple five years ago, but has yet to live in it. “It was a disaster,” Handler said, adding that she did not know who she was purchasing the home from because it was in a trust.
Now, Hines has addressed Handler’s comments during an appearance on the “Tomi Lahren is Fearless” podcast, in which she was “questioning the timing” of the comedian’s remarks, per People.
“Because she bought this house five years ago and she’s just now complaining about it, which is also, I don’t know that she’s getting a lot of sympathy from people. She’s buying a $6 million house,” Hines told Lahren during the podcast episode, which is set to premiere March 26 at 5 p.m. ET, per the outlet.
“And talking about how she feels duped and that we tried to sell her a house that was, her word, ‘toxic,’ which also doesn’t make sense,” she added.

“I did write her a personal note when she moved in, just saying how much we love the house. And I hope that she has a beautiful life in this house. And if you need anything, call me. And I left my number,” Hines said. “So I don’t know if we were trying to unload a toxic house on her. I wouldn’t have left my number.”
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star went on to accuse Handler of “trying to get attention,” adding: “She’s trying to get a laugh, I guess, and some likes.”
In her original comments, Handler claimed that the home she bought was unlivable.
“When they opened up the house, they were like, this house is the most toxic environment, you cannot live here for at least two years,” she said, adding of RFK Jr., who is currently serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Donald Trump: “The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house.”
“He has like a little outdoor storage unit that’s been there since I bought the property − And they’re like, ‘this is illegal,’ and I’m like, ‘oh my God,'” she said. “It’s cursed. I mean, three people have come in and said this house is cursed.”
