Lori Wright, the corporate vice president at Microsoft and Xbox, is departing the company. Wright announced her departure in a LinkedIn post on March 19. No definitive departure date was specified. It was simply noted that you’d be departing in the “coming weeks.”
“I wanted to say a special thanks to the many colleagues, partners, and friends who shaped my journey. I leave with overwhelming gratitude for the adventure of a lifetime. As for what comes next, I’m hoping for a lot of beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and discovering what lies in the space in between,” she wrote.
Lori Wright worked closely with business partners and led third-party relations. Her job description notes that she “leads global partnerships & business development and marketing for Xbox, including publishing and platform partnerships, content licensing, developer programs, and market expansion.”
2026 remains a year of significant restructuring for Xbox. Phil Spencer recently retired, and coinciding with that, Sarah Bond, the former president of Xbox, announced her resignation. In their place, Asha Sharma moved from Microsoft’s AI division to become the new head of Xbox. Alongside her, Matt Booty was named the new CCO.
In the ensuing weeks, Sharma confirmed that Project Helix remains the code name for the next-generation Xbox. She’s also continuously reaffirmed the desire to commit to the core Xbox player. Read her comments on the brand’s future here.
