From renewable energy to semiconductors, Abhijin Rao’s move to Lam Research signals a new chapter in global supply chain leadership amid shifting industrial priorities.
Lam Research has appointed Bengaluru‑based procurement and supply chain specialist Abhijin Rao to its global leadership team, marking his entry into the semiconductor sector after more than two decades in the industrial and renewable energy industries.
Rao announced the move on LinkedIn, writing, “After more than 7+ years at Enphase and 23+ years in Industrial, Renewable Energy, EMS, Consumer and EV sectors, I am excited to share that I will be venturing into the Semiconductor SC world through Lam Research by joining their Global SC Leadership team.”
He expressed gratitude to colleagues at Enphase, where he oversaw sourcing, procurement and supply chain operations across eight manufacturing sites worldwide, managing more than $1 billion in global spend.
During his tenure at Enphase, Rao led efforts to navigate supply chain disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic, mitigate the impact of tariffs, and scale operations to support multiple factories.
He also directed new product launches and globalisation strategies, while building and managing high‑performing teams.
His career spans more than two decades and includes senior roles at Jabil Circuit, Tyco International, American Power Conversion, and Larsen & Toubro. Across these organisations, Rao has managed enterprise-scale procurement transformations, delivered sustainable savings exceeding $90 million, and enabled revenue growth through competitive bill-of-materials strategies and product industrialisation.
He has also overseen diversification away from China, executing $300 million in non‑China spend transitions to reduce geopolitical risk, according to his professional LinkedIn profile.
Recognised as Procurement Leader of the Year in 2025, Rao is noted for embedding analytics‑ and AI‑driven decision frameworks and strengthening supplier governance.
At Lam Research, he will bring this experience to the semiconductor supply chain, a sector facing increasing demands for resilience and efficiency amid global competition and technological change.
