WASHINGTON (7NEWS) — Authorities are searching for a person of interest after reports of gunfire near the White House overnight.
The United States Secret Service said officers responded shortly after midnight on April 4 to reports of shots fired near Lafayette Park, just north of the White House.
A thorough search of the park and surrounding area did not track down a suspect, and no injuries have been reported.

Officials said operations at the White House remain normal, but a heightened security posture is in effect.
Several roads were briefly shut down during the investigation, including:
The Secret Service, working alongside the Metropolitan Police Department and United States Park Police, is actively searching for a possible vehicle and person of interest.
