Disney+ and Apple TV — both launched days apart in 2019 — have significantly narrowed the U.S. SVOD market share lead of Netflix and Prime Video in the first three months of 2026, according to new data from JustWatch.com.
The data, which is based on more than 35 million streaming interactions from January through March, found Netflix, with 19% market share, and Prime Video, with 17%, continuing market share leaders. But their dominance continues to narrow as Disney+ (16%) and Apple TV+ (12%) gained ground.
Disney+ gained 2% market share in the quarter, while Hulu remained stable. Disney+ grew 4% over the year — one of the largest year-over-year increases alongside Apple TV. Hulu gained 1% over the same period.
Disney+ and Hulu were led by “Paradise” Season 2, which currently ranks No. 2 in the U.S. on the monthly streaming charts. The platforms also drew significant viewer traction with Oscar nominees The Secret Agent and
Sentimental Value, both of which placed in the top 10.
Apple TV moved into a joint No. 4 position with HBO Max at 12%. Peacock (4%) saw a 2% increase, driven by Oscar winning/nominated Hamnet and Bugonia. Peacock separately benefitted from the Winter Olympics and NBA All-Star Game.
Netflix lost 1% market share, while Prime Video lost 4%. Netflix’s most popular titles included “Bridgerton” Season 4 and “One Piece” Season 2 . Prime Video’s most popular titles included “Fallout” Season 2, “Young Sherlock,” and “Scarpetta.”
HBO Max lost 1% share in the quarter and over the past year. The platform introduced the new “Game of Thrones” series, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” while also benefiting from the unexpected success of hockey drama, “Heated Rivalry”.
On the movie side, Max retained two Oscar Best Picture contenders and winners in Sinners and One Battle After Another. Apple TV had hits with “Shrinking,” “Severance,” and F1: The Movie.
Paramount+ lost 3% market share, while Peacock gained 2%. PBS and other platforms remained stable. Paramount+ saw an annual decrease of 4%, while Peacock grew 2%, while PBS remained stable. Other platforms decreased by 1%.
Peacock also saw strong viewership from “Ted” (the TV series adaptation of the film),
Paramount’s most popular content in the quarter includes, “The Madison,” and The Running Man (2025).
Paramount’s pending acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, would find the combined Paramount+ and HBO Max generating 15% market share.
PBS’s streaming channels remained stable at 2%, despite the loss of federal funding.
