Murray, Ky. – Murray State Tennis is set to defend their 18-match MVC win streak this weekend with two contests on the home court this weekend. Saturday the Racers will take on Drake, and Sunday they will face Northern Iowa.
After completing non-conference play with a 4-8 record with a challenging non-conference schedule, the Racers are ready to defend their MVC titles from the past two years.
Junior Yu Kikawa went 2-0 in singles play last week, helping lead the Racers to a win over Western Kentucky in MSU’s home opener, and earning MVC Singles Player of the Week honors.
Drake enters Saturday’s match with a 5-8 record, and coming off a 3-4 loss to Morgan State. After hosting the majority of their non-conference matches at home, the Bulldogs will arrive in Murray with a road test, taking on a motivated Murray State squad. The match will begin at 12 p.m. central at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
The Racers and Bulldogs have faced off just three times in program history, with MSU leading the all-time series 2-1, having taken down Drake in their previous two matchups.
UNI will arrive in Murray to take on the Racers on Sunday at 10 a.m. on Sunday, currently holding a 2-9 record on the season. The Panthers will face Belmont on Saturday before comning to Murray to finish their weekend road trip.
