The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says conditions Saturday could create dangerous wildfire risk due to a combination of strong winds and very low humidity.
Timing: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday
What to expect:
• Winds 10–15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph
• Higher gusts (up to 40 mph) possible in northwest Georgia
• Humidity dropping into the teens
Why it matters:
These conditions can allow fires to start easily and spread quickly.
What to do:
• Avoid outdoor burning
• Use extreme caution with anything that could spark a fire
A Fire Weather Watch means conditions are favorable for critical fire danger, and a Red Flag Warning could be issued if conditions worsen.
This includes the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests.
DDC will continue to monitor and update if a warning is issued.
Fire Weather Watch issued for Saturday across North Georgia, including Whitfield County – Dalton Daily Citizen
